In Recital: Eve Daniell and Rykie Avenant (piano). Included works by Barber, Quilter and the Canadian premiere of John Pickard's The Phoenix.  

First Metropolitan is pleased and honoured to present soprano Eve Daniell. 

Eve grew up in Cobble Hill and lives between Canada and the United Kingdom after moving to the UK to study at the Royal Academy of Music on a Sainsbury Award and the Catherine Osborne scholarship. There she won the highly prestigious Pavarotti Prize before graduating in 2016.

She made her debut at the Royal Albert Hall in 2016 as one of a hand-picked selection of young singers invited to sing Vaughn Williams' Serenade to Music at the BBC's Last Night of the Proms. Eve has appeared on the BBC, CBC and the Prairie Home Companion (APHC Baltic Cruise 2014) with Garrison Keillor. She has sung with orchestras and choral societies in Britain and at Victoria's Symphony Splash in 2012.

She led the British and Canadian national anthems and then performed for The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh and Governor General David Johnson at Canada House in London last July. Her first recording was released in November .

Rykie Avenant

Rykie studied music at the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa and graduated with honours, obtaining a Performer's Licenciate in piano as well as a BMus Ed. Degree. She subsequently worked as a repetiteur for the Cape Town and Pretoria opera companies before relocating to Canada in 1991.
