Men's Luncheon Group

The Men's Luncheon Group meets monthly from September to June on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at the Howard Johnson Hotel and Suites, 4670 Elk Lake Drive. Each luncheon features a guest speaker, good food and lots of conversation! For more information about the group, contact Cyril Nasim at (250) 383-0400/ or Earl Jenson at 778-265-4198.

Our presenter this month is Derek Fraser who will speak on the topic "Russian Foreign Policy:"

President Trump has considered removing sanctions on Russia and recognizing a Russian zone of influence to achieve reconciliation. Trump may not achieve his goal through such means. Russia wants to be recognized as a great power with a veto on all questions affecting Russian security, including the activities of the NATO and the EU.

Derek Fraser is a former ambassador to Hungary, Greece and Ukraine and is currently an Associate Fellow at the Centre for Global Studies, Adjunct Professor for Political Science at the University of Victoria, Adviser to the Canadian Institute for Ukrainian Studies at the University of Alberta, and Member of the Board of Directors of the Canada Ukraine Foundation.

He gained extensive experience in East-West relations and the communist and post-communist world through postings in Vietnam, Germany, the Soviet Union, Hungary and Ukraine, and in Ottawa, as Director of Relations with Eastern Europe.
