First Metropolitan United Church will offer a six-week Mindfulness for the New Year course on Tuesday evenings from January 23 to February 27, 2018: 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

This participatory course will include guided instruction in selected mindfulness practices such as mindful breathing, body scan, mindful sitting, mindful walking, mindful movements and a befriending meditation.

Content

This participatory and practical course includes:

  • guided instruction in selected mindfulness practices such as mindfuol breathing, body scan, mindful sitting, mindful walking, mindful movements and befriending meditation
  • group discussion aimed at enhancing awareness in everyday life
  • home practice

Instructor

The is offered by Wally Lazaruk, Ph.D., an education consultant and Certified Professional Coach. Wally received professional training in the Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction Program (MBSR) developed at the Centre for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care and Society at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He worked as an intern with the Centre for Mindfulness, University of California, San Diego, and received training in Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy.

Fees are $75 and will be used to fund Spiritual Care and Wellness initiatives at First Met.
