Thank you to everyone who took part in the amalgamation vote Sunday, June 11, either in person or on line. The proposal for the amalgamation of First Metropolitan United Church and Broad View United received overwhelming support, with 83 in favour, one against and three abstentions. We request the Pacific Mountain Region to approve the amalgamation to create one community of faith/pastoral charge of the United Church of Canada, to be called Broad View United, effective Dec. 31, 2023.

With this vote, First Met and Broad View have begun a journey together as an "invitational amalgamation," embracing each other and moving toward a deep spirituality, bold discipleship and daring justice as one United Church community of faith. We hope our differences and shared purposes become a gift of challenge and strength and that we become the next generation of being a regional church - bold, experimental and open to new initiatives, spreading a generous vision of justice, progressive theology and inclusive love for all of Greater Victoria.

We dream of becoming a community led by diverse and gifted staff and active lay leadership, exploring discipleship, vibrant worship and advancing social justice.

We celebrate the 'Yes' vote from both congregations.
