BE A CHRISTMAS ANGEL!

It’s that time of year again when we think of exchanging gifts and sharing special seasonal food, decorations, and fellowship with our friends and families. For those who are part of the Our Place family, Christmas is not always a joyous time. Many of these folk are not in touch with their families and can find the Christmas season a cold and lonely time.

We have an opportunity, with the Angel Gifts program, to share some warmth and friendly greetings with the Our Place family. The Angel Gift that you give might be the only gift that person receives. Those who have received Angel Gifts in past years have been very moved by the generosity and caring that come with the gift.

On Sundays, November 24 and December 1, you will be able to receive Angel cards with basic information about members of the Our Place family who would welcome an Angel Gift. The Angel cards will be available at both the 9 and 11 a.m. services. Along with the cards, information about suitable gifts, and wrapping advice, is available. The deadline for the wrapped gifts to be brought to First Met will be Sunday, December 8. There will be collection boxes in both the Chapel and the Sanctuary.

We hope that you will consider being an Angel!

If you have questions, please contact Penny Bond at email or 250-384-2538.

Thank you to those who have offered to help with FirstMet’s Angel Gifts this year. One or two more volunteers would be most welcome if you can help with sorting at First Met after the 11 a.m. service on one or both of Sundays, December 1 and 8.

Help also is needed with the final gift sorting on Monday, December 9, at St. Aidan’s. If you can help with this for part or all of the time between 9:00 a.m. to about noon, that would be greatly appreciated – this is the time of the final sorting of all 700 gifts from Victoria and neighbouring communities. Penny is the contact person for this, as well.
