You are invited to celebrate First Metropolitan United Church on Sunday, September 24.

We will have the First Met Alumni Social to mark the time we have had together, reminisce about many things and reconnect with each other, wondering what God has in mind for each of us and for our future collectively as people of planet Earth.

We will also recognize Bruce Davies, who is retiring as First Met's long-serving, hard-working, friendly Building Supervisor on the same Sunday.

Date: Sunday, September 24th

Place: First Met Sanctuary and the Fellowship Hall.

Schedule is as follows:

#1  11:00 am - Sunday worship including Bruce’s farewell. We now worship together with Broad View United Church as we prepare to fully amalgamate. Cake will be served immediately after the service.

#2  12:15 pm - Luncheon for Bruce’s retirement and First Met Alumni Social

#3. 1:15-3:15 pm - First Met Alumni Social (desserts)

Freewill donations for lunch & desserts.

Alumni Social program includes:

Celebrate First Met, sing along with your favourite church songs, fish pond for all generations, tour of the church building and much more…

You can attend one or more of the three scheduled gatherings listed above, since some people attend other churches, etc.

However, if you are planning to enjoy the luncheon and/or desserts, we need confirmation numbers and diet restriction information.

Please reply to Megumi Matsuo Saunders at the highlighted link or 250-896-3876 and answer the following questions as soon as possible (Sept.15 deadline):

1.Your full name & phone number

2.Names of family members attending

3. Which time you will attend

4. Food restrictions of each member

First Met amalgamation:

The present congregation of First Met decided to amalgamate with Broad View United Church (amalgamated church of St.Aidan’s, Cadboro Bay. and Gordon Head United congregations) using the Broad View name and will relocate to the former St. Aidan’s United Church site as soon as the renovation is completed (probably November). The First Met building will be transferred to the Pacific Mountain Region, effective Oct. 1.
