First Met congregational meeting

First Met congregants are invited to attend a congregational meeting via Zoom only Sunday, Dec. 3, at 7 pm to discuss options to terminate or transfer the Trust Funds and Foundation of First Metropolitan United Church.

The following proposed motions are below:
i) “That the First Metropolitan United Church Trust 2008 (“The Trust”) be terminated in accordance
with article 1.7 of the Trust Deed, and that the funds held in the Trust be transferred to the
Broad View United Church Foundation for the purposes of the expansion of the mission and
ministry of the church congregation into community programs, and/or for the institutional and
other works of the church at home and abroad,pending a formal and final decision by Pacific
Mountain Region as to amalgamation and determination of surplus."

ii) “That the Memorial Stabilization Reserve Trust, in accordance with article 3.2 of the Trust Deed
of the Memorial Stabilization Trust 2009, transfer the capital of the trust fund to the Our Place
Society of Victoria, for the purposes of maintaining the Church’s effective presence and Christian
witness in downtown Victoria, pending a formal and final decision by Pacific Mountain Region
as to amalgamation and determination of surplus and pending a court decision approving the
transfer and the termination of the Memorial Stabilization Reserve Trust."

iii) "That the congregation of First Metropolitan United Church extend the term of First Metropolitan Board of Trustees to 31 December, 2024, in order to complete any unfinished Real Property transactions that need to extend into 2024."
