First Met is offering a three-hour Power of Mindful Self-Compassion workshop by by Wally Lazaruk, PhD, an education consultant and Certified Professional Coach.

Participants will learn the three key components of self-compassion, practice techniques and meditations to increase self-compassion in everyday life and learn to motivate themselves through encouragement rather than self-criticism.

This workshop will include short presentations on key themes, guided meditations and group discussion.

Wally Lazaruk received professional training in the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program (MBSR) developed at the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He worked as an intern with the Center for Mindfulness, University of California, San Diego and received training in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy.

Fees for the course are $35 and will be used to fund Spiritual Care and Wellness initiatives at First Met.
