More than 150 people packed the Fellowship Hall Feb. 16 to raise funds for refugee sponsorship to the dance tunes of the Best Coast Big Band. Seats went quickly as soon as the doors opened for the event organized by the First Met and St. John the Divine refugee sponsorship committee.
Members of the two congregations and friends swung to the band's repertoire from the 1950s to 1980s, with time out for dessert and the ever-popular auction of more than a dozen homemade pies. The event raised $4,100 for refugee support, shared equally between First Met and St. John the Divine. More than $850 was raised from the pie and dessert auctions.
Thanks to all the participants, volunteers and bakers who helped make this big night such a successful community event.
