Please help us provide Christmas and New Year's Treats for the Our Place Adult Shelters. While COVID-19 continues to be with us, we are committed to providing a little Christmas cheer to the residents of the Our Place Adult Shelters again this year!

To ensure health and safety, things will be a little bit different this year. As capacity at the First Met shelter is reduced due to COVID, we are extending our Christmas cheer to the residents of the new adult shelter located at the Downtown Community Centre.

We aren’t able to accept donations of home-baked cookies this year, but we are still planning to provide Christmas Eve treat bags. We will also provide New Year’s Eve treats and are working closely with Our Place staff to find a safe option.  To make this years’ efforts a success, we need the following donations:

  • Gifts of money to purchase treats for the Christmas Eve gift bags, as well as for New Year’s Eve treats.  We would like to raise $800 by Sunday, December 13.  Your cash or cheque donations can be mailed to, or dropped off at, the church office.  Please label with “Shelter XMAS” on the envelope or in the memo field of the cheque. Any excess donations will be used towards other Outreach projects and activities.
  • Socks:  Warm athletic socks in grey or black (one size fits all). Donations can be dropped off at the office by December 20, 2020.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Kate Breckon by email or by phone at (250) 294-5245.
