First Met has added the rainbow to its front steps to mark Pride Month in Canada. Volunteers painted the risers of the steps between the railings leading to the Quadra Street entrance (see photos below).

They were greeted by cries of "thank you" and horns tooting from passing cars, thumbs up signs and words of appreciation from people on the street - even a pair of Victoria police officers stopped by to admire the work.  Thanks to Edeana Malcolm, David Bray, Steve and Janet Gray, Ross and Robin Breckon and Lead Minister Shelagh MacKinnon for their work.

First Met has also erected its "Love Is Love" banner above the church's Quadra Street entrance to mark June as Pride Month in Canada. The church is in the process of becoming an Affirming congregation within the United Church of Canada.

Pride Week in Victoria is June 28-July 4 and we invite everyone to view our virtual Pride Week worship service on Sunday, July 4, at 11 am through our Livestream page.
