In Memoriam: Shirley Newell

We are sad to report the passing of Shirley Newell, who died June 23 after a brief illness. She was the widow of Rev. Dr. David Newell who was a minister at First Met. He died a few years later and in time she connected with Bert Vandenberg with whom she lived happily for many years.

Shirley was a First Met congregant for many years and a member of the tai chi group. Shirley was active in various forms of Outreach, including Inner City Dinners, prison visitation and Our Place. She also was a longtime member of the Merry Mates. She will be missed by her many friends and colleagues.
