Out of the Rain

Out of the Rain works to reduce the risks faced by homeless youth by supplying a warm, safe and dry environment for youth aged 15 to 25. The nights are long and wrapped in a wet sleeping bag, shivering from the damp and the chill, sleep comes fitfully - five or 10 minutes every hour. A tree, park bench, a doorway - these provide some shelter but safety and warmth are not common experiences for homeless youth.

Beacon Services provides counsellors who stay with the youth through the night offering referrals and advice when asked. Out of the Rain welcomes donations both in cash and in kind: outerwear, backpacks, coffee cards, hygiene items are most appreciated.

We launch a yearly financial appeal to ensure we meet our commitment towards operational expenses.
