First Met uses a special recipe for its delicious communion bread - and for those who worship with us online or just want some good bread for regular eating, we're delighted to pass it on. Thanks to Marion Denton for sharing.

Combine:

  • two tablespoons Crisco
  • two tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup water

Mix:

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup white flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

Mix flour mixture to liquid mix. Dough will be sticky.

Add enough flour to shape the dough into a long loaf about two inches high and 2 1/2 to 3 inches wide. Work the flour in as you shape the dough. Place on a greased cookie sheet.

Bake at 375 F degrees for 10 to 12 minutes - and enjoy!
