Mindfulness courses and workshops are often offered in the Fall and Winter. Learning how to incorporate mindfulness into everyday life is an effective way to maintain mental and physical health, as well as cultivate a calm and peaceful mind.
We are currently unable to offer any mindfulness programs. Please see the links below if you would like to learn more on how to cultivate mindfulness into your daily life.
First Met embraces a holistic understanding of wellness that includes six dimensions: physical, spiritual, mental/emotional, intellectual, environmental and social. Promoting personal wellness and healing has been central to Christianity from the beginning.
We offer programs on topics such as healthy eating, end of life care, support groups, and health counselling.

- Gentle Yoga and Chair Yoga
Join us for low-cost Gentle Yoga with teacher Elaine Duke in the Chapel. Beginners are welcome and the suggested cost is$8-$10 per session. No matter what your ability you will enjoy this gentle yoga practice which improves flexibility and calms the mind. Our teacher is very knowledgeable and can help adapt poses for those with limited mobility. Gentle yoga takes place Mondays (except statutory holidays) 10:30 am.
Chair Yoga is held Wednesdays at 10:30 am.

- Tai Chi
A group meets for Chen-style Tai Chai at First Met on Mondays and Wednesdays from 12:00-1:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall to work on balance while also having fun! Participation is on a drop-in basis and donations are welcomed (donations go to supporting the First Met Health and Wellness Bursary Fund).
